I just realized..a bit late i know...that that was our last seminar. I'm really going to miss it but I plan on taking up Mr.K's offer of playing after school on fridays for sure.

The concert was great! I think all of the audience had a fun time, and the participation was wonderful. I also can't believe we stopped when the dancers stopped, because we didn't practice that. Great Job everyone!

The concert was awesome! It was really fun and i thought we all did a really good job. The dancers were very well prepared also.

My parents' reaction was similar to Claire's, they liked the drummers and dancers separately but said both were better when we were together. If we're not in seminar second semester, do you think Baba PC would let us come perform on International Night?

Concert--WHOOHOO!

I had so much fun at the concert. Being squished into the sideroom before we started playing was more nervewracking then you could guess...my palms started sweating and I got jittery, like I always do. It's pre-performance ADD.

My parents really liked the show...they were impressed with the dancers and the drumming, but they said we sounded great together. The only thing that I wish would have gone smoother was the "question and answer". We never answered any questions about our experiance.
Just something to think about for next semester.

I loved working with Baba PC and everyone from Muntu Dance Theater. It was wonderful! Thank you!

Concert

I loved the concert. It was cool hearing all about the drums again and listening to Baba PC just talk about the music. Obviously, though, playing was the best part. I loved that we got the opportunity to solo and that the audience really seemed to enjoy it. Everything got even better when the dancers came in (even though my hands felt like they were about to fall off).

ITS HERE... Finally the night have come for us to show off our skills that kills to pay the bills. Im sensing that everyone is really nervous but im not. Im ready and i know that were going to be just great. I wish Jordan was dancing like he said he was, but i guess he's just a liar with a fro like connor. Rock on!!!

performance day

The performance is tonight and im really excited to show off my skills as the log master. Hopefully everyone can keep up. Im pretty nervous though no lie. I cant wait to throw my hands in the air and scream victory! Its going to be tight.

Im so excited for the show tonight. Im hoping we all do okay. Ive been waiting for thuis for so long. Im really excited my mommy gets to so how much work ive put in and how it payed off. Shes really excioted to come in to because she used to play drums.

OMG today is the performance!!! like im so totally excited!!! ive been looking forward to this day for sooo long. i cant wait for my brother to come and watch and hopefully play with us!! im also really excited to see my boy Jordan dance!!!

performance already?

Man I cant believe that the performance is tomorrow. It seems like it was a week ago when i started playing the drum. Sorry i wont be there tomorrow for seminars but ill see you guys at the show itself. Have a good practice with the dancers and ill catch up right before we perform. So yets show the audience our amazing skills. :)

PERFORMANCE!!!

yess... the performance is finally here. I have confidence in our group and think we can really stun the croud. its almost over tho... so sad:(. One more rehearsal w babba pc. also i think people should consider taking this semester next time if you really liked it. This was an awsome seminar and gave us all the chance to expose ourselves to a different culture and style of music. I had alotta fun. Now lets go be awsome at this performance!

I'm very anxious to play tomorrow and to see what everybody thinks of our performance. It was good working with the dancers to make sure we all know what to do and when to do it. I think we are ready to blow the audience away. Hopefully the dancers can keep up with us and we will do great.

im glad we got to play with the dancer. It was really interesting and different from what I expected. I was pretty disappointed though that Jordan didn't dance because that would have probably made my day. I hope we practice well today and do good in our performance.

The Performance has me Shaking in my Boots

Not that I don't think we're ready. We have the Dongba rhythm down to a "T". It's really the Joli rhythm I'm a little concerned about. Well, really I'm concerned about me since the part I'm playing is still difficult for me, and I don't want to let anybody down.

On a plus note, it was a great feeling to put everything together with the dancers. (Who ROCKED, by the way.)

I have to go find all my notes on the drums since I'm supposed to introduce them. Can somebody else help me??

I'm SO excited to perform with the dancers. In fact it's obvious everyone is... I'm really nervous although I don't know why since we've been practicing for quite a while. The dancers were unbelieveably awesome, they really were. I remember I got to see their performace during the seminar presentations and I literally held my breath in amazment it was so great. I can't wait to feel that feeling again.

Im really nervous about the upcoming show. After seeing the dancers I feel like were behind or wont be ready for next thursday. Hopefully today we can start working on practicing our song with the dancers and get it in sync.

Whoa. all i can say is whoa about those dancers. They were reaslly good and i was really impressed. I thought it was going to be like interprative dance but i was pleasantly suprised when it ended up being more like stomp the yard. cant wait for the performance.

However long ago last class was

Our last class was really awesome because the dancers finally came. Their dance moves were really sick and i cannot wait to play for them. The performance is on the horizon... can you handle it?

Last week was pretty cool. I felt like we all did pretty well with the beats and seeing the dancers was pretty cool. I hope were able to play with them today

Wow. Were playing really soon, I was really excited for it and wanted it to come up sooner, but now its just making me really nervous. but i am still really looking forward to playing for the dancers, especially Jordan. I think this is going to be a great event for both of the seminars. Also its gonna be alot of fun to have family members join in as well!

Wow, a week from tomorrow. !? Even though we've known about it for months, this performance is creeping up on us-- I'm really excited. For the performance aspect, but also for the sharing-with-family/friends aspect. It was amazing to see the dancers a couple weeks ago, and even though the dance seminar and the drumming seminar were more independent of eachother than we thought they would be, I've had such a good experience in this seminar, and I think its ok if we only play that one song for the dancers, or none, or more.

Playing for the dancers was quite challenging and a lot of fun. It was nice to finally perform with the dancers. I now have an idea of how the real performance will be like. I am very anxious to play the drums for the dancers again and get better at keeping the same pace.

Anyone Excited?

Man we are going to perform a week from tomorrow and we did o.k. with the
dancers. We did the best we could on such late notice. It was fun and looks like
everyone will have fun on the 14th. Even though we still need to practice
I feel like that we will be ready to perform. I'm so excited and hopefully everyone
has fun during the performance! :)

Finally!

I loved playing with the dancers, even if we weren't fully in sync with them. It gives more meaning to a beat to see movements go along with it, making the playing so much more worthwhile. I'm legitimately excited for the 14th now. I think it's going to be a blast.

Funny Reaction

I thought it was wonderful to pull everything together. Seeing the dancers dancing along to a beat that we created was a really moving experience. (A funny thing I did learn was that the dancers were used to dancing much faster, so our "slow" beat was a little offputting.) I'm very excited for the 14th, and I hope everyone else is too.
